Practical Information for Doing the Camino de Santiago in Group The Camino de Santiago, a...
The Camino de Santiago is a journey that unites, that generates that family union, that teaches us and enhances values as essential as companionship or empowerment, and in Guía Camino de Santiago we are endorsed by the No. 1 company of the Camino, so that you only have to worry about walking and enjoying the Camino.
And, of course, always with fun, laughter and unique moments.
For this and many other reasons, more and more families decide to do the Camino de Santiago. And there is no better trip to enjoy, disconnect and share than this one.
Many families have already experienced the Camino de Santiago as a group.
It is a great opportunity to share time together and enjoy a common adventure.
Because we are young and we love to share moments, laughs and trips with our family, here is a sample of how they enjoy the experience of traveling as a family.
Sarria will be the starting point to begin our adventure along the French Way. We will meet at the hostel to inform you about how the next days are going to develop and we will give you some recommendations to enjoy the trip. Afterwards we will have the first dinner, where you will get to know the rest of your companions better.
Let's get started, family! This first stage has a distance of 22 kilometers and an approximate time of 5 to 6 hours. It is a bearable stage, with a terrain without many slopes. The landscapes of this area of Galicia are impressive. You will go through forests and small villages with lots of charm. You will cross the Miño river until you reach Portomarín, a place with beautiful views and a staircase that goes up to the old bridge. It's time to relax and enjoy a good meal.
This is the second stage that covers 25 kilometers and the approximate time is about 6 hours. It has no great difficulty, just some slopes up to Sierra de Ligonde and from there it starts to go down. You will cross villages such as Gonzar and Ventas de Narón, where the locals will be happy to greet you. On the way is Castromaior, a village known for its historical legacy. Finally, you will reach the end of the stage: Palas de Rei.
The third stage has a distance of 27 kilometers, it is the longest but the most beautiful. The time ranges between 7 and 8 hours and has a medium difficulty.
You can enjoy the natural beauty of Galicia, which you will see in its trails and villages, and its gastronomy. In Melide you can taste its famous octopus. It is a highly recommended stop to enjoy the local gastronomy and share special moments with the family.
Arriving at the end of the stage there is a climb that will take you to Ribadiso.
We reach the penultimate stage of the French Way. We will travel 21 kilometers, approximately in 5-6 hours, from Ribadiso. We will pass through villages like Arzúa, well known for its cheese, and along the way we will enjoy the scenery with beautiful fields and forests. We will ride along some stretches along the road until we reach Pedrouzo, so we are not far from Santiago!
We start the last stage of 19 kilometers to Santiago. Enjoy this last day because you will take this experience to remember.
We will leave O Pedrouzo and pass through villages such as Lavacolla, where it is said that pilgrims bathed to purify themselves before entering the city. When there are 5 kilometers left to reach Santiago, we will see Monte do Gozo, an impressive place where we can reflect and see the Cathedral of Santiago in the background.
We enter through the Arch of Xelmirez to reach the coveted Plaza del Obradoiro. It is a very special and exciting moment when we will be able to say: we have made it!
Congratulations!!!
