This event marked the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Meadows Museum and the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral Foundation, which will result in a major exhibition in February 2027. The exhibition will include some 70 pieces from the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, built in the 11th century and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Un_Camino_de_Arte_y_Cultura\"><\/span>A Path of Art and Culture<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Francisco Jos\u00e9 Prieto Fern\u00e1ndez, Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela, commented that the exhibition will create a path, or link, between Dallas and the cathedral. \u00abThe beauty of this exhibition is that it emphasizes the idea of the path, not only the Camino de Santiago, but also the fact that humanity is constantly on the move, and this helps us to deepen our roots,\u00bb he said through a translator.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Detalles_Destacados_de_la_Exposicion\"><\/span>Highlights of the Exhibition<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Amanda W. Dotseth, director of the Meadows Museum, who co-curated the exhibition with Ram\u00f3n Yzquierdo, director of the Santiago Cathedral Museum, highlighted that one of the most notable aspects will be the works of Maestro Mateo, a medieval sculptor and architect famous for the Portico of Glory in the cathedral. Among the pieces that will travel to Dallas are his Saint Matthew, the Horses of the Procession of the Three Kings, and King David.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Impacto_Cultural_y_Educativo\"><\/span>Cultural and Educational Impact<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Jay C. Hartzell, president of SMU, said that this agreement is a crucial step in the evolution of the Meadows Museum and its collaboration with its partners in Spain. \u00abWe are very proud of the Meadows Museum. Strengthening it through an international collaboration like this is really important and special to us,\u00bb he said. In addition to the exhibition, the agreement will facilitate collaborative research initiatives, including the publication of a book, an international symposium, conferences, academic presentations, and educational programs.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Una_Celebracion_de_Conexion_Internacional\"><\/span>A Celebration of International Connection<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The exhibition will open from February to May 2027 during the Holy Year of St. James. This celebration marks a special year for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago, when the holy door of the cathedral is open and pilgrims can receive a plenary indulgence, a complete forgiveness of sins.
